Virus experts F-Secure says that this worm has been adapted from the Rick Astley worm unleashed on the public two weeks ago.
This new and improved worm takes users trying to log into their ING bank accounts and redirects them to a fake site, where it stores your username and password. At present, it seems as though only Dutch users have been affected, however F-secure warns that it could easily spread across the continent.
The worm is easily spread across jailbroken iPhones sharing the same wireless connection. F-secure even go as far as saying that hackers could use the worm to create a network of compromised devices. Although, what exactly they’ll accomplish with such a network within the crippling battery life of the iPhone is a mystery.
By comparison the Rick Astley worm, which took over jailbroken iPhones and changed the handset’s wallpaper to a picture of Rick Astley accompanied by the words “ikee is never going to give you up”, seems relatively harmless.
